CLIMATE-NEUTRAL ENERGY SUPPLY

FOR KÖHLERPAPPEN

The Albert Köhler cardboard factory has commissioned GETEC with the planning and construction of a new climate-neutral energy supply system for its site in Gengenbach. In the future, the entire plant will be supplied with heat from a modern biomass heating plant.

THE CUSTOMIZED GETEC SOLUTION

GETEC Green Steam concept replaces brown coal plant for steam supply

THE CHALLENGE

KÖHLER PAPPEN is 100 percent committed to sustainability and climate protection. They are part of our self-image. On the customer side, the greatest focus in production is placed on recycling and maximum efficiency in the use of energy, raw materials and all other resources.

THE GOAL

Development of a highly efficient steam supply system based on biomass that meets the requirements for a sustainable energy supply at the Gengenbach site and at the same time contributes to the success of the energy transition.

THE SOLUTION

With a capacity of 8 MWth, the biomass heating plant will produce about 12 metric tons of process steam per hour for the production of high-quality cardboard. Forest chips and other residual materials are used as fuels for this purpose. The planning and construction, as well as the operation and service of the plant, are carried out in GETEC's Green Steam approach. To this end, the company is financed from its own shares in the contracting business and from subsidies provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy on the basis of a resolution passed by the German Bundestag.
